Important notice before you use our estimates

Remodiq provides cost estimates for planning purposes only. These figures are not quotes, bids, or guarantees. Always consult licensed contractors for binding project costs.

Estimates Are Approximations

The renovation cost figures displayed on Remodiq are statistical approximations derived from aggregated industry data. They represent what a typical homeowner might expect to pay for a renovation project of a given type, size, and quality level in a specific US city — based on historical contractor pricing, material costs, and local labor indices.

No two renovation projects are identical. The following variables — none of which Remodiq can fully model — can significantly affect your actual cost:

  • Existing conditions: Water damage, outdated wiring, asbestos, load-bearing walls, and other issues discovered during demolition can add thousands to a budget.
  • Material selection: The difference between stock cabinets and custom cabinetry, or between luxury vinyl plank and solid hardwood, is not fully captured by our quality tiers.
  • Contractor availability: Labor costs vary significantly based on local demand, contractor reputation, and how busy tradespeople are in your area at the time you hire.
  • Permit costs: Local permit fees vary widely — from a few hundred to several thousand dollars — depending on city and project scope.
  • Timing: Material prices fluctuate with supply chain conditions. Our data is updated periodically but may lag current market prices.

Our Data Sources

Remodiq's cost model is built from the following publicly available and industry-recognized sources:

  • RSMeans Construction Cost Data — industry-standard unit cost database used by contractors and estimators across the US
  • Remodeling Magazine Cost vs. Value Report — annual survey of renovation project costs and resale values in 150+ US markets
  • National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) — remodeling cost and activity data
  • Aggregated contractor quotes — collected from publicly available bid data and regional pricing surveys across 50+ US cities

Data is updated periodically. Remodiq does not guarantee that figures reflect real-time market conditions.

Not a Substitute for Professional Quotes

Before starting any renovation project, you should:

  1. Get at least three written quotes from licensed, insured contractors
  2. Verify that your contractor holds the required licenses for your state and project type
  3. Check that permits are pulled and inspections are completed as required by local code
  4. Build a 10–20% contingency buffer into your budget for unexpected costs
  5. Consult a structural engineer or architect for projects involving load-bearing changes

No Contractor Endorsement

Remodiq does not refer, recommend, endorse, or have any commercial relationship with any contractor, supplier, or service provider. Any contractor you hire based on a Remodiq estimate is your own choice, and Remodiq bears no responsibility for the quality, safety, or legality of their work.

Financial Decisions

Do not use Remodiq estimates as the basis for loan applications, home equity calculations, insurance claims, legal disputes, or any financial decision where precise figures are required. Consult a licensed appraiser, financial advisor, or attorney for those purposes.
